Some say Ken Block has too much money. When you see his cash and idea put to good use like the above 'snowcat' it all seems worth it. For those of you who don't know Ken Block, he is a rally car racing guru and is forging the way for a new wave of drivers. Now it seems he is taking on the snow. This video was too cool not to share. That's right, Winter has come early to the Monashee Mountains!  As of today October 30, they report a 3’6” snowpack at the Mustand Powder Catskiing lodge…and are forecast  to get a lot more this weekend.  In the photo you can see that their hot tub is fully buried in snow!  Nick from Mustang Powder tells us that in a couple weeks they will be starting to build their snowroads, and then start cat skiing with the ACMG guiding students on Nov. 28.   Each season Mustang Powder hosts 24 guiding students during their mechanized ski guide course.  The ACMG guiding association has chosen to do their early season training at the Mustang Powder area - since their location on the west side of the Northern Monashees means that they typically get a big early season snowpack (word is that the Canadian snowfall record is very near there!).

For those interested in guiding, Mustang Powder also runs their in-house guide training over these dates, and then start their 09/10 cat skiing season on Dec. 4. December 4th people! That is only 4 weeks away!!  Book early because their pre-Christmas is already ¾ full – so make a move soon if you are keen to experience the Ultimate in Cat skiing at a very reasonable shoulder season price.
